Build solid foundations for children.
Their future is our future.
The CBA passionately believes in giving all children an opportunity to succeed in life. In addition to raising funds, the CBA advocates for children by educating its members and the public about the plight of San Antonio's underserved children and by marshalling as many charity dollars as possible for children's causes.
The Charity Ball Association Advocacy Event
The CBA organizes and sponsors an annual "Advocacy Event" to highlight the work of a local charity and the needs of their client children and families. We feel that the best way to engage families is an event that is fun for all family members while giving them information about the services and facilities in their neighborhood.
In May of 2016, 50 families from 5 nonprofit agencies were treated to an afternoon at Morgan's Wonderland by CBA Sponsors. Children from Respite Care, Any Baby Can, Seton Home, YMCA and Kinetic Kids along with their parents, siblings and caretakers from the agencies attended. Each child received a backpack to take his/her goodies home and fabulous door prizes were also awarded. Thank you to Morgan's Wonderland for the use of their fabulous facilities to make these childrens' dreams come true.
In June of 2105, CBA sponsors traveled to Daily Bread Ministries where they hosted a fun fair for about 50 elementary children with interactive games, face painting, balloon animals and much, much more.
In May, 2014, sponsors traveled to the San Anto Cultural Arts center and in honor of our 60th anniversary, helped students paint a mural of the CBA chrysanthemum logo and added finishing touches to their new garden area.
On May 9, 2013, CBA sponsors helped students plant an organic garden at San Antonio Can High School.
In 2012, the event was an April 3 Carnival at the St. Peter - St. Joseph Children's Home. Residents and staff from St. PJ's gathered with CBA sponsors to enjoy an afternoon of food, fun and games. Other partners donating to this event included Papa John's Pizza, The CE Group, Inc., Lily's Cookies, Saint Mary's Hall, and Woodridge Elementary School.
2011 Respite Care
In 2011 The Charity Ball Association returned to Respite Care bringing fun, food and festivities to the families and special needs children, celebrating the successes and impact this organization has had on our community.
2010 Kids' Day
In 2010 the event was a collaboration with a variety of United Way agencies called Kid's Day. Thousands of children and their parents were treated to a day of games, healthy food and fun and they left with information on literacy and an activity.
In 2008 and 2009 The Charity Ball Association and the Family Service Association joined forces to host a "Family Fiesta" at The Neighborhood Place at 3014 Rivas Street. Free food, games and fun were provided for the families in the neighborhood. Our members worked in the game booths and helped prepare and hand out food. Vital information about the programs and services that are available to them through FSA, and specifically The Neighborhood Place, was provided to all that attended.
The first event in 2007 honored Respite Care, a unique and amazing organization that assists families with special needs children.
Working Smarter to Build Solid Foundations for Children
The Charity Ball Association believes in working smarter to leverage the impact of charity dollars for children. To that end it is participating directly in the Children's Issue Council of the United Way and making efforts to bring all available resources to bear on Bexar County's least served areas. A representative also attends meetings of San Antonio Funders Group.
Our members are deeply involved in the community, sitting on many charitable boards. Therefore, when a visit to a charity highlights a need that can't be met by the CBA, our members are able to make a connection with another donor who can---connections that result in collaborative action for children.
