The CBA grants over $1.2 million to San Antonio Agencies in 2013

 

In 2013, the Charity Ball Association and its generous supporters donated over $1.2 million to twenty San Antonio charities. Education, child health and wellbeing, access to healthcare, after school enrichment, early childhood education, and strengthening families are the areas of focus for this year.  We salute these twenty charities committed to improving the lives of the children of San Antonio.

 

THE CHARITY BALL ASSOCIATION 2013 GRANT RECIPIENTS


Autism Community Network

The Autism Community Network seeks to maximize the potential of children with autism by leading a collaborative effort to facilitate autism awareness and services throughout the San Antonio area. It emphasizes early diagnosis and provides services to underserved young children and their families.

The Charity Ball Association funds will be used to create a Play/Diagnostic Space, specifically gym/climbing apparatus, two swings, floor mats, training furniture, cameras and AV equipment. Additional funds will support the Focused and Early Childhood Education, specifically trainers and educators. The Charity Ball Association has funded this agency twice in the past.

  

AVANCE-San Antonio

AVANCE unlocks America's potential by strengthening families in at-risk communities through effective parent education and support programs.

Funding from The Charity Ball Association will help AVANCE reach National Accreditation for the Education of Young Children. Funds will be used for facility improvements, including new windows, doors, intercom system and half restroom doors. Prior to this year, The Charity Ball Association has funded this agency eleven times.

 

Ballet Conservatory of South Texas

The mission of Ballet Conservatory of South Texas is to fulfill the development needs of serious young dancers, regardless of economic background, in a safe, nurturing and pre-professional dance company environment.

Ballet Conservatory's KIPP Camino Academy Collaboration, specifically dancewear and performance costumes, will be funded this year by The Charity Ball Association making this the first time for Ballet Conservatory of South Texas to be funded.

 

Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio

Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio's mission is to enhance the educational, social and moral development of San Antonio's youth, ages 6-18 years old.

Charity Ball Association funds will support a tech room for the new clubhouse in the Lonestar Neighborhood, providing twenty five computers, two robotics and mounting kits for the Robotech Program. This will be the twenty-first grant that The Charity Ball Association has given to this agency.

 

Boysville, Inc.

Boysville was founded in 1943 as a result of Reverend Don Holliman's concern for the orphaned, homeless and abandoned boys he observed sleeping in Travis Park. Its mission is to provide a safe family environment for children in need so they may become responsible adults.

Charity Ball Association funds will support the restoration of Ellison House, providing flooring, painting, appliances, tub, toilets, showers, drive and sidewalk improvements, plus the removal and fill of the retaining wall. This will be the thirteenth time that Boysville, Inc. has been granted funding from The Charity Ball Association.

 

Child Advocates San Antonio

Child Advocates of San Antonio's mission is to recruit, train and supervise court-appointed volunteer Advocates who provide constancy for abused and neglected children while advocating for services and placement in safe and permanent homes.

Charity Ball Association funds will support Child Advocates San Antonio's "Growth Achievement Pilot", providing twenty laptops with cases and a printer, making this the seventh time for funding.

 

Children's Chorus of San Antonio

The Children's Chorus of San Antonio provides educational and performance opportunities in choral music to the children of the greater San Antonio area.

Charity Ball Association funds will support "Music Together" at Haven for Hope, focusing on music and movement for children from birth to six. The Charity Ball Association is providing funding for this agency for the first time.

 

The Children's Shelter

Since 1901, the Children's Shelter has been giving children the chance to dream. With emergency shelter services, basic and therapeutic foster care, special needs adoption, teen parenting services and abuse prevention programs, the Shelter helps create brighter futures for children every day. The mission of the Children's shelter is to provide safety and well-being for children and their families through leadership and innovation.

Charity Ball Association funds will support Advance IT, making this the fifteenth time for the Children's Shelter to receive funding from The Charity Ball Association.

 

ChildSafe

ChildSafe's mission is to restore dignity, hope and trust to children traumatized by abuse and neglect.

Charity Ball Association funds will support ChildSafe's Entry remodel, specifically renovation and construction. Additional funds will provide funding for Kindle Fires, making this the sixth time to be funded.

 

Communities in Schools

Communities in Schools keeps kids in school, unlocking their potential to succeed. Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. We believe that every child needs and deserves the Basic Life Tools to be successful; a personal, one-on-one relationship with a caring adult; a safe place to learn and grow; a marketable skill to use upon graduation; a healthy start and a healthy future; and a chance to give back to peers and community.

Charity Ball Association funds will support cloud computing solutions, specifically for set up and monthly fees for Networking, SharePoint and Exchange Servers, as well as utility charges and van access. Communities in Schools has been funded by The Charity Ball Association nine times prior to this funding.

 

Family Endeavors, Inc.

The mission of Family Endeavors, Inc. is to provide comprehensive, effective and innovative services that empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities.

Charity Ball Association funds will support the Fairweather Family Lodge, specifically focusing on the renovation of the kitchen. This will be their second time for funding.

 

Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Safe Spaces for Girls, specifically funds for technology, equipment and furniture for the Gamma Sigma and Teen Rooms, will be provided by The Charity Ball Association. This will be the sixth time for the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas to receive funding.

 

Good Samaritan Community Services

The Good Samaritan Community Services' mission is to serve as a catalyst for change, supporting individuals and families by providing excellent community services to overcome the impact of poverty.

The Nurturing Parenting Program funding from The Charity Ball Association will focus specifically on curriculum, supplies, salary and computer administration and will be the seventeenth time for funding.

 

Presa Community Center

Presa Community Center improves lives by providing access to needed resources and tolls for social and personal transformations.

Charity Ball Association funds will support improvements for the youth facility, specifically the installation of shade cover and collapsible partition for the Learning and Technology Center Building. This will be the sixth time for The Charity Ball Association to fund the Presa Community Center.

 

 

Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives

Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives' mission is to care for children in crisis. Our promise to the community is that we will give every child and family seeking our services our complete dedication and attention. Based on the principles of respect and responsibility, it is our goal to give children a foundation of positive values, which will promote future success and end the cycle of abuse.

Funding from The Charity Ball Association will support the "Spring Cleaning-Safe and Sound" at The Bridge Emergency Shelter, focusing on roof repair and new washers, dryers, vacuums, furniture and shower. Additional funds will be used for an awning. The Charity Ball Association has provided funding fourteen times, including this project.

 

San Anto Cultural Arts, Inc.

San Anto Cultural Arts' mission is to foster human and community development through community-based arts.

Charity Ball Association funds will support the expansion of classroom and workroom space with a specific focus on building a new facility. This will be their first time to receive funding.

 

San Antonio Children's Museum

Through joyful learning and discovery, the San Antonio Children's Museum grows minds, connects families and transforms communities.

Funding by The Charity Ball Association will support the Water Works Exhibit, focusing on interactive water stations, waterfalls, water wheels and machines demonstrating physical properties and the amazing power of water. The San Antonio Children's Museum is being funded for the third time by The Charity Ball Association.

 

 

Symphony Society of San Antonio

The mission of the Symphony Society of San Antonio is to inspire and enrich our community by vigorously influencing the artistic fabric of San Antonio through excellent symphonic performance, education and service.

Charity Ball Association funds will support the Young People's Concerts, specifically the purchase of a high lumen projector for presenting educational curriculum. This is their third time for funding.

 

Witte Museum

The Witte Museum promotes lifelong learning through innovative exhibits, programs and collections in natural history, science and South Texas heritage.

Funding provided by The Charity Ball Association will support technology upgrades for education programs, specifically projectors, cameras, video controller, encoder, ceiling mounts, computer screen, speakers, signal processing, hardware and installation. This will be the second time for the Witte Museum to be funded by The Charity Ball Association.

 

YMCA

The YMCA works to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy minds, spirits and bodies.

This year's grant will support the Y Early Learning at Haven for Hope, offering Pre-K Education for homeless children. The Charity Ball Association has provided funding for the YMCA seventeen times.
